The COBWEB Project is made up of nine Work Packages, briefly described below:
Work Package 1 (WP1): Contract and project management
This work package is concerned with the administration, coordination and management of the COBWEB project, with all partners engaged in related general project management activities and preparing the required administrative and financial reports over the life of the project.
Work Package 2 (WP2): Stakeholder engagement
The main purpose of this work package is to act as the focus for communication and engagement with the potentially wide range of stakeholders with an interest in the project.
Work Package 3 (WP3): Citizen observatory framework
This work package will deliver the common COBWEB environment. This includes the COBWEB portal
and framework, as well as all necessary documentation.
Work Package 4 (WP4): Citizen observatory mobile data collection, validation and quality system
This work package will focus on designing the prototype mobile phone data collection sub-system, designing and developing the back-end server based system for dynamic model-based data validation and quality assurance, and related fieldtesting of the prototype.
Work Package 5 (WP5): Privacy assurance and access management
This work package focuses on the security implications, particularly around personal data, of the COBWEB approach and on the role of authentication and identity.
Work Package 6 (WP6): Demonstrator Development
This work package is concerned with the design and implementation of prototype demonstrators across different subject areas relevant to research interests in the appropriate UNESCO Biosphere Reserves.
Work Package 7 (WP7): Data and knowledge management
This work package will look at data and knowledge management implications of COBWEB, to ensure that all stages in the lifecycle of data and information flowing through the system are systematically considered in a way which is compliant with best standards based international practice.
Work Package 8 (WP8): Testing and validation
Concentrating initially on the pilot case studies, Work Package 8 will develop test cases to test the outputs (data and services) from COBWEB. First in Wales within the Dyfi Biosphere Reserve and subsequently elsewhere within the World Network of Biosphere Reserves, specifically within Germany and Greece.
Work Package 9 (WP9): Dissemination, exploitation and usage
This work package seeks to gain maximum exposure for and raise awareness of the project with all relevant stakeholders, to encourage enthusiastic involvement in the project, and to encourage take up of project deliverables and sustained results during and beyond the project’s life. The work package will also evaluate and assess the business models predicated on COBWEB technology and outputs, and applications for the data and services produced by COBWEB.
