The Welsh Government, through its need to interact with the citizens, infrastructure and the environment of Wales, is keen to embrace new and innovative information management technology to develop a cohesive, environmentally responsible digital community.
The Welsh Government’s Geography and Technology division is leading the stakeholder engagement activities focused on the task of requirements gathering. Assistance from the Land, Nature And Forestry division provides further governance and potential policy applicability to the direction of the project.
Representatives from the two divisions bring specific expertise related to large scale data analysis, GI management and digital business implementation as well as wider of experience related to:
- public consultation,
- legislative data publication,
- evidence gathering capture and analysis, development,
- monitoring of environmental policy and land use.
The project complements ongoing investigation into the wider use of citizen sourced data for policy making, the internet of things and semantic web technologies in Government.
